Bird-Cherry[edit]

Perhaps this ought to be listed as references at the bottom, instead of linking the definition itself? Medellia 03:15, 23 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

JMA קׅירְסֵי (qirəsē)[edit]

@Fay Freak: What's your source for JMA קׅירְסֵי (qirəsē)? --{{victar|talk}} 00:17, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Victar: It’s probably the same as this word which one connected to the verb “to become sour” (at {{R:DJBA|page=1045}}), like Samuel Krauss glosses “vinegar” and sees the whole root as a Greek loan, according to him ὀξηρός (oxērós, of vinegar) from ὄξος (óxos, poor wine, poor wine vinegar), so CAL has the gloss “sour wine”, while stating obiter they prefer “sour cherry”.
