Plural/Neuter/What?

I see this pronoun treated as plural sometimes, and neuter others. In the example sentence, несколько людей пришли, it is treated as a plural; however, I suspect natives would prefer пришло. It also seems that несколько человек (older version of the example sentence) is more common than несколько людей.

Nothing is official, both neuter and plural are used and are verifiable. You can Google with example sentences in quotes to verify. людей/человек are also interchangeable. Anatoli T. ^{(обсудить}/^вклад) 23:59, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
