(Notifying Stephen G. Brown, Wyang, Octahedron80): : Hi. Does the final "-r" still exit in Khmer? According to the Wikipedia, it's only in the north. Sealang gives two readings: ʾuccaaraʾ and ʾuccaar. Is the "-r" pronounced in the latter? @Frank, if yes, how should this be respelled? I don't think the module allows the final "-r". --Anatoli T. @Atitarev I don't know for sure, but I'm not yet convinced that the final -r exists here. Cf. Headley (1974), “The Reflexes of Old Khmer R in Modern Khmer”, Anthropological Linguistics, pp. 40–46. Wyang (talk) 07:11, 8 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Wyang: I'll leave it as is then (with ʾuccaa). The Sealang entry doesn't have a reference. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 07:17, 8 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
I'm pretty sure the way you have it is correct. There is no final "-r" sound in Khmer. It's either -aa (or a lengthening of some other vowel, such as -ææ, -ɛɛ), or in this word, -ra’. —Stephen (Talk) 09:09, 8 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
