Earliest attestation in Japanese[edit]

@Suzukaze-c, Eirikr When was the earliest attestation of 安全第一 in Japanese? I suspect Chinese borrowed this phrase from Japanese, and the phrase itself was translated from English "safety first". RcAlex36 (talk) 15:44, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@RcAlex36: According to the KDJ listed in the Kotobank entry, it looks like 1920. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 17:59, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Eirikr: Thank you for your response, and would you mind editing the Japanese etymology section to show that 安全第一 was loaned from English "safety first"? RcAlex36 (talk) 18:11, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@RcAlex36: I don't have any clear source stating that it was a calque. That will take more research. I've updated with what I've found so far. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 18:58, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
PS: @RcAlex36, apologies for my earlier brain fart. I've added {{calque}} to the Japanese etymology. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │Tala við mig 23:16, 13 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Mar vin kaiser Where did you get all the pronunciations that you've added in this edit (diff) from? RcAlex36 (talk) 03:42, 14 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
