Mandarin readings[edit]

Can it be explained in which contexts the various Mandarin readings are used? 71.66.97.228 01:46, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Act, not scene[edit]

In a Chinese theatrical context, this should probably be translated as "act" rather than "scene." A scene usually has only one location and time, whereas a 折 in Chinese opera may not be so, especially for older traditional plays. A character can be in their room at the start of a 折, go into the living room, and then into the garden within the same 折. 173.88.246.138 03:37, 25 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
