The word is found in the northern dialects in Scandinavia also. Pronunciation 'kulie' with a diphthong in the end and so written with ie in the end. It is used in exactly the same way as mentioned on the page. I provide this example in national Swedish so it can be run trough any online translation: 'Arbeta hårt som en kuli'. (Work hard as a coolie.)
