Ety 2[edit]

@Vorziblix, I have made a hack job of adding additional senses and there are still more in Erichsen. I'm simply following the Egyptian entries in separating them from Ety 1. Aren't they somehow related, or is this too uncertain? PapasUlysse (talk) 15:35, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

@PapasUlysse: Hi, and sorry for the late reply! They may be related indeed — Vycichl writes that ‘peut-être il y a un rapport’ between the two etyma — but it remains largely speculative. It might be worth mentioning in the Egyptian entries themselves, but given the uncertainty of it all, I wouldn’t set too much importance on adding it or not. Note, however, that Egyptian ꜥt (limb, body part) is not an ancestor of Demotic ꜥ.wy — it gave rise to a different feminine Demotic noun, ꜥ.t (limb, body part) (Erichsen p. 51). I’ll change it in the entry. — Vorziblix (talk · contribs) 02:47, 22 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Vorziblix: Thanks for the correction. However, ꜥ.t (room) descended as a feminine Demotic noun, too (Erichsen: 51, 8; Černy: ΗΙ). PapasUlysse (talk) 12:06, 1 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
