That's a good point. I suppose one way to decide if there is a separate -v- affix or not is to see if it would also appear before other suffixes. For example, would we say Shavify or Shawify? Even so, it's arguable that the suffix -ian is different from all others because it contains a vowel hiatus, which very few other English suffixes do. We would need to name an element after Shaw or something to get this question to come up again. Soap 19:57, 20 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
