Nuland? Source needed if true[edit]

This isn't in the entry now, because I don't have a good source to hand, but I think I heard in a recent podcast that soon-to-be-retiring (as per a Blinken announcement) Victoria Nuland had very much been the origin of the oft-repeated (in the loyal West) "Assad must go" rhetoric if not campaign. If true, then she might be the most notable and most ironic "Assad curse" victim yet, and perhaps citeable quotes won't be far behind. I don't recall exactly where I heard this, but perhaps someone else does, and that might be a worthwhile addition to the entry. Huge if true. Are the chickens coming home to the chicken house?
