Is this a suitable term to translate the rather awkward English 'thought-piece' -which sounds like a calque from the german anyway? — This unsigned comment was added by 2.102.110.74 (talk).

Probably yes, depending on the context. Denkschrift may sound slightly old-fashioned and carries sometimes the connotation that the content of the writing is somewhat revolutionary or at least not mainstream. -- Gauss 19:07, 1 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
