Emory cloth[edit]
to my surprise, this is not mentioned either in Wikipedia nor here, yet it's the most common use. Emory cloth is a polishing cloth, sort of a black fine-grained sandpaper, used for polishing everything from fine woodwork to gemstones; as far as I know "emory" is a kind of stone or sand made from a particular stone; apparently it's also called "emery cloth" but I know it from Emory Creek in British Columbia, and have usually seen it spelled "emory" - http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Emery%20cloth - Emery/emory is http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Emery++ Maybe there's an "emery" entry though....Skookum1 14:38, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
