Misunderstanding of the Filioque controversy[edit]
The original text said that the Son is begotten either directly or indirectly (through the Holy Spirit). This is a misconception of the Filioque controversy between the Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church, which concerns whether the procession of the Holy Spirit is from the Father only or from the Father and the Son (ex Patre Filioque).
