Iā̆pōnia

Untagged; the word itself exists in durable (and decently old) media (Citations:Iaponia), and the usage note covers the uncertainty around pronunciation, which is not (usually) what RFV is for, anyway, is it? and which can be verified with other media, e.g. (for English) news or youtbe videos; in this case, Nuntii Latini has it with two long vowels a lot:

• Dē novō vīrō corōnātō; Falsī nuntiī per Germāniam reptant; Flamma Olympiaca in Iāpōniam pervēnit; Abundat forum petroleō.
• […] quō portōria dēminuerentur et commercium inter Americam et Iāpōniam roborārētur.
• ubi est Tōkium caput Iāpōniae,

as well as with short a sometimes, like miscellaneous other modern Latin writings on the web do (e.g. "etiam ad Sinās et Iapōniam pervenīre temporis punctō valēbunt"). - -sche (discuss) 13:34, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

• This is the place for requests for verification, and the vowel length is something which should be verified. So it's the right place.

  (Well, alternatively, the note could simply be changed, or removed as dubious and unsourced?)

• You're mixing up the multiple Nuntii Latini. You're source isn't the Finnish one of the WP article, but https://nuntiilatini.com/ ([1], [2]) from the US. It's not durably archived.
  • BTW 1: Some more Nuntii Latini are mentioned at WP.
  • BTW 2: The Finnish Nuntii Latini used regular spellings without macra except from their glossary, and had "imperātor Iaponiae". In their old prints (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), I don't see any marked occurence. In a vol. 1 glossary it's also just "identitas" and not identitās.
• From here or here? The latter is considered durably archived as of WT:CFI: "Usenet groups, which are durably archived by Google". The reply mentions the source, archived here, and this doesn't have macra.
• Google Books only has one result when searching with macra: a mentioning of Iapōnia in Septimana Latina: Cursus vivae linguae Latinae (2019; [3]).

To sum it up:

Based on all this, I can only see sparse attestation of Iapōnia (Septimana Latina, dubious newsgroup).

Iāpōnia of the US Nuntii Latini and Iaponia of the Finnish Nuntii Latini aren't durably archived. (To the note both could be added nontheless, but it's not something for the head and declension etc.) --2003:DE:3727:1626:31AD:6BB5:D7DD:2BED 16:55, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
