If Chu and Chou can both be ㄓㄡ/zhōu, then Man³-chou¹-kuo² should be written as Man³-chu¹-kuo² in the etymology, as with Yangtze, K'o-tzu-le-su/K'o-tzu-lo-su. My hang up is that I haven't seen enough examples where chu=ㄓㄡ/zhōu. Could this word actually be something more like Manchu+kuo, regardless of the Chinese character name? --Geographyinitiative (talk) 12:29, 20 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
