@Ysrael214 Oh, this surname 梁 is not very common among Hokkien families (at least those from around Quanzhou area), so far at least that I've seen throughout the years in ph, but among Cantonese families, they seem to be more present, hence there are common Chinese Filipino surnames like Leong that is more likely from Cantonese, but in neighboring countries like Malaysia and Singapore and maybe Indonesia, there are chinese people there surnamed Neo, but I haven't seen that surname in ph that much besides rarely, which it seems Neo is supposedly from Hokkien 梁 (Niô͘) or Teochew 梁 (nion⁵), which if it existed more in Quanzhou Hokkien speaking areas, it would've been Hokkien 梁 (Niû), which there was one time before I think I saw someone in ph surnamed like "Niu", but nonetheless seemed like a rare surname. Certain surnames like 施 (Sy/See), 李 (Dy/Dee/Lee), 陳／陈 (Tan), 林 (Lim), 蔡 (Chua), etc. seem to be more common in around the area from the coast of Quanzhou to Xiamen, which perhaps 施 and 林 are endemic to[?]. In Cantonese areas, there are certain surnames endemic to them too like 譚／谭 (taam⁴) / 覃 (Tam) and etc. This was explained to me before by some Chindos. Mlgc1998 (talk) 06:13, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
