Switzerland[edit]

@Fytcha the transtable at police officer says Switzerland, is this correct? Jberkel 18:48, 19 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Jberkel: Thanks for spotting this. No, this is not correct. While I have heard this word before, I certainly do not associate it with Switzerland. Swiss High German media uses Polizist while the Alemannic word is Polizischt. srf.ch has 15'000 hits for Polizist and only 1 for Polizeimann. Meanwhile, spiegel.de has 41'700 for Polizist and 120 for Polizeimann.
It was added by User:Hans-Friedrich Tamke here who, in all likelihood, copy-pasted it from dict.cc. I've challenged the entry over there ([1]). See also the bizarre vote process of that entry: the creator leaves a link to a Duden page that does not even contain the word, then a Swiss person votes to delete the entry, only for a German beginner and a German non-speaker (by their self-assessed levels on their pages) to approve it. 🤡 — Fytcha T | L | C 22:29, 19 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
