- @Vininn126 Tbh, RiGCz is untranslatable IMO as it's used ironically by young people like me who oppose the influence of the Catholic Church and despise religion in general. The meme is an allusion to Pope John Paul II who is almost venerated by many Poles, especially the right-wing and older ones. There's really no equivalent in any other language for this abbreviation, and the literal translation misses the point. I would leave it untranslated. Also, the author of this entry didn't provide any definition and I'm not surprised as I don't think I'd be able to translate it either. One would have to explain the whole context which is very long and includes a religious bigot on Polish TV, then the Wykop site which popularised the meme, then the use on Twitter. I don't really like the idea of adding this meme to Wiktionary tbh. It's probably very confusing for non-native speakers. Shumkichi (talk) 12:09, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Shumkichi I think if we're going to include it we should provide some of this history. As far as translation - yeah it'd be tough to do, and I think a literal translation would be... best? In which case I think I'd prefer going with "man" rather than "the human", as it sounds rather unnatural in English, but tbh it's so culture specific that it'd be tough. This is another one of those rare cases where I think a link to miejski would be helpful, too. So if you're open to that, I'm gonna keep the "translation" as "man" rather than "the human", and we can write up a better explanation. Vininn126 (talk) 12:15, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, "man" is better in this context. I'll try to find a reliable source that could explain the whole history of this meme but you know, memes are rather limited in use and restricted to Internet slang so it's gonna be hard to find one. Shumkichi (talk) 12:22, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
