Removed reference to it being "coined in the Hugo Award winning, 1966 novel, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein.": print citations for the acronym go back at least to 1963. The phrase itself is much older, at least dating to the "free lunches" provided by bars during the Great Depression; "free lunch" itself goes back to at least the 1840's.

Would make a good quotation of use if someone would care to find it; but Heinlein didn't coin it. Robert Ullmann 20:03, 15 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
