Pronunciation

@Fumiko Take, Wyang I used the standard default template but not sure if the result is correct, specifically the first syllable /s̪zi˧˧.../. @Atitarev I'm not sure how to answer your question, since I'm not sure whatever the hell the "standard" recognition of /r/ is when it comes to loanwords and place names -- it's a madness here in this pathetic country. Nor am I aware of any academic study on this. But as far as I know, those who are experienced with foreign languages do manage to articulate [r] or [ɹ], but I'm not sure anything further than that (like if it's devoiced or not, etc.); I have yet to hear anyone who utters ridiculous pronunciations such as */szi lan ka/ or something like that, which is why I've avoided to use the pronunciation template on these kinds of entry. The inexperienced majority I've met manage to pronounce "xờ-ri lan-ca" or "pa-kít-xờ-tan" (yep, there's no cluster at all); if they speak a little bit of some foreign languages, they can pronounce convincingly /st/, /sk/, or rarer, /sp/, /sr/, /sl/, etc. ばかFumiko￥^talk 13:29, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

@Fumiko Take, Wyang Perhaps we should use Xi Lan-ca and E-xờ-tô-ni-a as phonetic respellings here? In case of missing references, perhaps it's better to use native user's gut feeling, rather than showing non-existent pronunciations. I changed the module so that Xri Lan-ca as phonetic spelling would produce 'sɹ' in all dialects. Wyang (talk) 23:06, 17 March 2016 (UTC)
