Attested per Du Cange: http://ducange.enc.sorbonne.fr/absedium

The attestation is fairly late, of the thirteenth century, but the Iberian derivatives of this word show a distinctly 'learnèd' phonetic treatment in any case. It would appear that absedium is a Medieval Latin (not earlier) mistake/'vulgarism' for obsidium. Anyone have a source that goes into more detail about this form?
