Pronunciation[edit]

Isn't the IPA for the Received Pronunciation (British pronunciation) of advertisment /ædvɜːtɪsmənt/ adVERtisment? --Akut 13:33, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the notice. I've fixed it. A bit contrary to the IPA you presented, my reference material says that the first phoneme of the word pronounced in RP is a schwa, and I followed it. --Tohru 15:04, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. It's not really an 'a' as in "academy", but rather like the 'o' in "button". --Akut 17:25 24 December 2006

I've added a regional variation, but please feel free to remove it if you think it is uncommon (or rather "common"). Dbfirs 16:38, 15 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

The British variant shouldn't be tapped, or do my ears fail me? 46.186.35.242 22:48, 25 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
