@Per utramque cavernam Is bec-jaune sometimes used as an alternative form of this or does that always refer to a bird (blackbird?)? ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 13:54, 13 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Per utramque cavernam Did you get the ping? ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 13:55, 4 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Lingo Bingo Dingo: I think I got it the first time, but forgot about it; sorry for the delay. I'm not familiar with either term, tbh. Are you certain "bec-jaune" is in use though? There seems to be several birds à bec jaune, but none of them is called "un bec-jaune" alone by ellipsis, AFAICT. Per utramque cavernam 08:47, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Per utramque cavernam I mostly find it in older dictionaries, e.g. this. I don't know how readily it is found if at all in running text. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 08:58, 11 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Lingo Bingo Dingo: I think these might count as uses: [1], [2]; this seems to be an instance of the figurative sense.
A similar but much more common term (imo) would be blanc-bec. Per utramque cavernam 09:00, 13 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
