- NED says it is an obsolete form of bascule but gives no quotations. Vox Sciurorum (talk) 20:23, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- I have added it as an alt form of bascule, and cited that. I can find many dictionary mentions of the gate (but no uses). As the gate (and the drawbridge presumably) operates as a bascule, I suspect that these definitions are overly precise meanings for an alt form of bascule. Kiwima (talk) 22:04, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
