This also doesn't look to have survived past 1500. Once again, OED (under the headword bliken | blikne) has ME evidence only. This, that and the other (talk) 10:19, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- This doesn't seem to have survived in print, though the EDD has it (spelled blikken, in Yorkshire) and in this 1888 journal a writer mentions hearing it from one person and asking several other old people who also knew it as late as that date. They derive it from or connect it to Middle English bliknen, whereas James Stout Angus's 1914 A Glossary of the Shetland Dialect has it as "BLIKK'EN, v.p. to bleach, to make bleak: "Da taaties is blikkened wi da frost"; "he blikkened wi fear." - -sche (discuss) 21:26, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
