Bologna, polony, lunch meat, devon, fritz, luncheon sausage, etc.[edit]

The type of sausage referred to as "bologna" appears to have multiple names across the English-speaking world, although the exact type of sausage referred to may differ. See, for instance, the entry for lunch meat. It's a pity that this information is currently so fragmented. It would be a worthwhile task bringing this all together on a Wiktionary page (Wikipedia doesn't do a very good job; see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bologna_sausage or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devon_(sausage)), although the differences in product referred to could be a stumbling block.

Finding translations could also be a challenge. This kind of sausage (or at least one type) is referred to as хиам in Mongolian, but finding what is called in other languages might also be a challenge. The Wikipedia article says it's called "parizer[3] (Parisian sausage) in Hungary, Romania, and the countries of the former Yugoslavia" Bathrobe (talk) 20:44, 30 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
