Butcher[edit]

I read once that a "boner" was also Australian slang for butcher. Rklawton 01:25, 28 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

From the sense "one who removes bones", most likely. - -sche (discuss) 21:15, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Missing slang sense: jerk/idiot?[edit]

I seem to recall encountering this in some old comics, meaning "bonehead" (not jerk, per se). This might be an (oddly modern and not terribly intelligible) example:
  • 2011, Robin Wyatt Dunn, Los Angeles, Or American Pharaohs (→ISBN), page 127:
"Let us tell you something. We are afraid and we do not know what to do because this has not happened before." Ecclesiastes. You old boner. Oh no! It's new! New on you! It's bad, ain't it, I ain't seen it before around these parts, looks strange.
