Talk:bonne chance

The definition states that bonne chance is little used and that bon courage is preferred. Taking your advice I used bon courage to wish a Francophone women's hockey Olympian good luck, but all the other well wishers said bonne chance. Perhaps, although you didn't say so, your usage is excessively slanted towards Paris, rather than Montreal?

Thanks – that’s a really good point! I’ve clarified it as “Chiefly Quebec”, as my Parisian mates do, in fact, reject bonne chance (as you guessed).

(FWIW, the normally rather comprehensive French Wiktionary currently has no entry for fr:bonne chance, though it has fr:bon courage, and mentions bonne chance there. FWIW.)
