coggings[edit]

Judging by Google Books, coggings appear to be some kind of structural support in a mine. Any ideas? Equinox 14:58, 8 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Irish: cog[edit]

Bizarre to see effort wasted on what must be close to a ghost word. It doesn’t appear at all in the Historical Corpus (1600–1926) and in the 1934 edition of Dinneen it appears as cogaiġim (Modern spelling: cogaím; Modern dictionary form: cogaigh). This form would be understandable to a modern speaker as it’s a regular way of forming verbs from nouns. An entry based on one citation from an early version of a dictionary with many mistakes seems pretty dubious. —☸ Moilleadóir 03:19, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
