"Alternate Spelling"

Why is "dashhound" listed as an alternate spelling rather than an alternate pronunciation? I can't find the spelling anywhere but the pronunciation is fairly common (in agreement with the annotation next to it). - Mocha2007 (talk) 22:23, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

How is it an alternative pronunciation? It correctly identifies Hund as the German version of hound (calling it merely a cognate is more accurate technically, but [in my opinion] when a cognate is in essence the exact same word as its cognate in another language [both in pronunciation and meaning] I just loosely refer to it as "another version" of the word in question), but for whatever reason reads Dachs as if it were *Dache, and of French origin. All of that is to say that the word is not dashhound/dache-hound, it is dachshund. Tharthan (talk) 16:08, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Pronunciation variants

Shouldn’t there be the IPA for pronunciations such as /'dæʃ.haʊnd/ and /'dæʃənd/? These are the variants I grew up hearing and saying --109.176.223.99 08:07, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Look under the synonyms section, where it says that /'dæʃ.haʊnd/ (spelling it out as it is often written out when used in writing) is a common mispronunciation. Tharthan (talk) 13:57, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
