"The effect or result of tracking something down." Google Books doesn't seem to bear this out. There does seem to be a pair, downtrace-uptrace, relating to oceanography, perhaps upstream and downstream traces? Possibly other senses too. Equinox 21:49, 5 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
