Noun[edit]

Placing the noun at the top of the article seems like very bad logic to me. The most common meaning should come first, no matter the word class.

"Thick" is not really an accurate description

Plants?[edit]

Reading the noun def, you could almost believe that fats don't come from plants. A bit misleading, but I can't think of an appropriate improvement at the moment. ☸ Moilleadóir 13:19, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rfv-sense: "A person or animal that is overweight or obese." I can't imagine anyone saying "look at him, he's a fat" or "my cat is a fat". Originally tagged by an IP (thanks). Mglovesfun (talk) 16:49, 3 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

RFV failed, sense removed. Admittedly, this is hard to search for; but I tried the best searches I could think of, and couldn't find even one cite. —RuakhTALK 20:25, 16 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

RFV-sense "A poorly played golf shot where the ball is struck by the top part of the club head." Tagged but not listed. - -sche (discuss) 06:04, 30 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Never heard of it, though I'm not a big golf fan. I have found it in some on-line glossaries, so I'd imagine it exists, but citing it won't be easy at all. Mglovesfun (talk) 17:29, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Strike that, google books:golf fat shot seems to produce enough usable hits for this to pass. Mglovesfun (talk) 17:31, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
So it does. Struck and detagged; kept. - -sche (discuss) 23:37, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cattle sense[edit]

From https://www.producer.com/2019/01/transport-code-of-practice-in-works/

Research found driver experience is important to the welfare of animals. Those with zero to two years of livestock transport experience had more welfare issues compared to those with more than six years of experience.
Fats and feeders had the fewest incidents while cull cows and calves had more problems. The culls may be thin and fragile with weaker immunity.

Does anyone know what this usage means? EphFan (talk) 22:16, 30 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Typography[edit]

I don't know if this is really distinct from the general "thick" sense, but see fat face (and similar phrases like fat typeface). Equinox 00:08, 16 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
