Fauci[edit]

The word Fauci, when the first letter is capitalized, denotes a family surname, as in Dr. A. Fauci. The word fauci, when written in lower case, denotes a part of the inside of the mouth. The word fauci is an Italian word which is derived from Latin word faucium. A fauci, singular, is the opening of the inside of the mouth at the root of the tongue and is used for two purposes. 1-The fauci is a passage used by breathing air in and out of the lungs. 2-The fauci is used to let food into the stomach and out when regergetatating. Fauci is often mistaken for falci which means a hand held sickle, which is used to cut high grasses with seeds, like rye and wheat, but pronounced almost the same as same as fauci. Fauci seems plural but it is really singular because it is one unit. It is also called fauce. A fauci opening is one unit but has three parts, but all three are connected by the isthmus faucium. 1-left side of the uvula. 2-right side of the uvula. 3-isthmus faucium (Lat) which is a narrower passage of the same faucia under the uvula and connects to the righ and left opening.
