Etymology[edit]

While the Greek form has a very high consensus as a cognate, the semantic relationship is rather questionable. The Irish form is no cognate, but may be akin through the P.I.E. root (assuming that it has a P.I.E. root). The only other form which is a questionable cognate is Spanish FLIN (a polishing stone).
