Note the OED entry for jubilee and its early use to specifically mark 50th anniversaries, following the pattern of its use in the Old Testament. Presumably then golden jubilees were brought in to distinguish 50 year celebrations once silver ones were introduced for 25 year periods. — LlywelynII 04:57, 30 March 2022 (UTC)
