did gonk ever mean head or brain?[edit]
My Great Uncle, Captain Walter Vieweg, (who incidentally survived the sinking of the USS Gambier Bay in the infamous WWII battle of Leyte Bay) is quoted as saying "Use your gonk and you can do anything" I guess he means head or brain, but I do not see any reference that this slang word meant those things back in the 1940s.
