Don't know enough about Estonian to edit, but I think borrowing from Middle Low German hērink is more likely. This also has the plural "herinks", which would be an additional explanation for the final -as. 90.186.83.177 21:22, 23 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

The difference between Low German/High German loans is often simply time - after the 16th-17th centuries, no more words were borrowed from Low German.
