Also a circus?[edit]

Chambers 1908 defines horse-riding (hyphenated) as a circus, and I remember that usage from Dickens' Hard Times: "He belongs to the horse riding, if you please, sir." I don't know whether it was used this way outside of Dickens. Equinox 19:21, 11 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
