Possibly related to chwila (polish for instant)?

I don't think that's possible. I'm not sure what the origin of word-initial ch- is in Polish, but Germanic h- comes from older k- or ḱ-. Unless there is a sound change in the history of Polish that turns either of those sounds into ch-, the words can't be related. —CodeCat 16:53, 8 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
Oh and now that I look closer, the sound in Germanic is actually a labiovelar hw-. If this was a labiovelar already in Indo-European, it would have lost its -w- and become k- in Polish, not chw-. —CodeCat 16:54, 8 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Apologies for not using the phonetic transcription. It is pronunced /hvila/ in Polish, which actually makes more sense to my previous statement.
