This is INDEED pejorative term. Hamsters are not known for being energetic. Hamsters are known for running on their wheel. There is a brand of hamster cages known as habitrails and they included a wheel. The advertizing for this does not suggest that hamsters will ever get anywhere. Instead the advertising often shows hamsters on the wheel... not getting anywhere. That is why an idea hamster is known for someone who only thinks of new ideas and does not take them anywhere. That is he does not do anything with them. He does not evaluate them. He does not consider the implications. "The wheel is spinning but the animal is not getting anywhere." This type of person causes problems in an office because s/he thinks of many new idea but never takes the next step of considering how feasible these ideas are. This creates more work for other people who must take an idea and make something of it. If this term had been originated to mean a very energetic person a different animal would have been selected like a rabbit. The Energizer Bunny is known for never stopping, so an idea bunny would be a term for a person who keeps creating ideas and never stops. 104.129.196.161 13:34, 20 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
