I would call this the correct spelling of the word. I wonder why things like this change? Do people think it is moral to change the spelling of a word, just because a lot of people spell it wrong?

The way I think of a words spelling in this context is that "er" denotes participation while "or" denotes the source of the activity / someone that organizes that activity / someone that professionally oversees that activity(mostly on a regular basis).
