   "Jim-jams = pajamas" sounds to me like the product of one line-of-descent's baby talk, but Google backs it up as a briticism.
   There's another meaning, a state of extreme agitation and distress, and said to be a corruption of "delirium tremens", i presume under the influence of intoxication and/or dementia. (Dj-[elision of "elir"]-[ee-uh --> i]-m [garble replacing "tre", probably influenced by reduplication of j]... [schwah -n-z --> ah-vague nasal (perhaps pushed away from n by preceding m) -z]).
