What about the adjective? Kludgy?

Synonyms[edit]

Can anyone opine on whether hack and quick fix are synonyms to kludge? --Daniel Polansky 11:58, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hack is not generally a synonym, since sense 1 (jargon file) is uncommon in tech circles. Even then, hack has more of a sense of cleverness. kludge is closer to mickey-moused, jerry-rigged, or bubble gum and band-aids/spit and baler twine i.e; only works through brute-force and divine will --belg4mit

RfD[edit]

Shouldn't the template be removed? There's no discussion here, nor on the RfD page (just somehting about a sub-page). --belg4mit

Thank you for the notice. The deletion request was about the subpage and properly tagged on it, and has already been handled. I removed the tag. --Tohru 00:22, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation?[edit]

I've always heard this word pronounced with a long "u" sound, like the vowel sound in huge. I wonder how widespread that pronunciation is? Rholton 15:49, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's the only way that I've heard it pronounced (/u/). That's what the Jargon File gives as well. I'm changing it 138.9.8.193 01:30, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Correction I was looking at the Jargon File entry for kluge. You may be thinking of that as well.138.9.8.193 02:28, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Translations[edit]

Swedish[edit]

I was leaning towards "nödlösning" as Swedish translation of "kludge" but I’m not sure it coincides fully. Any comments or ideas? Elias Mossholm (talk) 12:17, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
