Dialectal Pronunciations in Entries[edit]

@Ysrael214 Just wanted to explain to you why I put the Rizal pronunciation in this entry. Although the general rule of Tagalog spelling is phonetic, this is not strictly the case, like how we technically say "baket" but write "bakit". The reason is Tagalog orthography has more or less solidified into a specific spelling, despite how people pronounce the words (at least for common words). So for example, everyone spells "bundok" as such, even if Rizal people say it as "bunrok", they will still write it as "bundok". So the entry "bundok" sort of deserves to show how Rizal people pronounce it when they see that spelling. And same goes for other dialects. At least that's my take on it. @Mar vin kaiser Ahh hmm, so we add that for all Tagalog words with unclustered /d/? I get your point though. So there's an alternative form and an alternate pronunciation correct? Ysrael214 (talk) 13:54, 12 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Ysrael214: Yup, alternative form and an alternate pronunciation. As for unclustered /d/, I'm just not sure if the Rizal dialect pronounces it like that for all words as a rule. For example, the word "sisid" is "sisir", "lubid" is "lubir", "palad" is "palar", "silid" is "silir", and "siyudad" is "siyudar"? Because I don't know, I prefer that we add it only we confirm that it's pronounced that way for that specific word. --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 14:00, 12 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Mar vin kaiser Okay. Will follow this too from now on. Ysrael214 (talk) 14:04, 12 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Mar vin kaiser I went to Morong and I can debunk this. Say it bundok, write it bundok, pronounce it bunrok, write as bunrok but never pronounce as bunrok but write as bundok. They distinguish the letter and the sound still. Ysrael214 (talk) 11:09, 16 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
