Transitive verb[edit]

I would have thought that sense 1 of the verb was more commonly used transitively, as in:

She littered the floor of her bedroom with clothes.

Also, sense 2 is more often used intransitively ("to give birth") (without "to").

How do we show verbs that are used both transitively and intransitively. It seems too pedantic to give separate definitions as I have seen in other entries, when the meaning is identical. Dbfirs 18:53, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
