loom large

Rfv-sense 2: "to pose a likely threat or danger". Was split from sense 1 in this edit. I don't see it as a different sense. PUC – 23:20, 27 July 2021 (UTC)

I do think that #1 as presently written is somewhat lacking the sense of something ominous being in prospect. For example, if I say that the day of my exam "looms large", then yes it is of "importance, concern, etc.", as #1 says, but additionally, and importantly for the meaning, it is impending. Perhaps #2 was trying to address this, though it does seem rather too specific. Mihia (talk) 21:25, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

I have cited this sense into the entry. It is certainly possible to keep it as a separate entry, but I think it is just as easily moved back into the main entry as a connotative meaning ("...especially when posing a likely threat or danger"). Kiwima (talk) 22:00, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
