Gendered words in the "Translations" section[edit]

@Ultimateria: regarding this edit, do we not indicate the different gendered forms of words in the "Translations" section if these exist? The tool that automates the addition of words provides checkboxes for editors to indicate the gender of words, which suggests to me this is specifically requested for. — SGconlaw (talk) 18:44, 16 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Sgconlaw: You're right that this tool is for adding genders, but that applies to nouns and not adjectives. It's not really correct to label lunar as a masculine and feminine adjective in Spanish, for example. It's just an adjective that doesn't have a different inflection for feminine nouns. The lemma form is all we need to link to, and any inflections in translation tables are visual noise. I remove feminine/neuter/plural inflections from adjective translations for the same reason that we don't show conjugations in verb translations. Ultimateria (talk) 22:36, 16 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Ultimateria: I didn’t know there was a difference between adjectives and nouns in this regard. I was just following what was indicated on the entry pages of those words. Thanks for clarifying. — SGconlaw (talk) 02:06, 17 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
