I don't think "majtë" comes from *mn̥tós (“hand”). If alb.mat (seacoast, riverbank) is reconstructed *mn̥to, why don't you have *(sh)matë? I have a hunch that somewhere, in older writings or dialectally, you have an archaic *maltë and should be reconstructed as *malta, from IE *mel- (“soft, weak, tender”).
