Talk:methodology

The entry states that the second meaning (i.e. 'A collection of methods, practices, procedures and rules used by those who work in some field.') is proscribed, without citing a reference. The only reason given for deprecating this second usage is that, etymologically, methodology refers to the study of methods. However, etymology is not always a reliable guide to current meaning; e.g. etymologically, prevent means precede, and was used with that meaning in the 16th century, but now means to 'keep something from happening'. Similarly, anthology, by this reasoning should mean 'the study of flowers', whereas, historically, it meant a collection of flowers and now refers, by metaphorical extension, to a collection of poems or other literary texts, or works of art. The implication for the meaning of methodology should be obvious. IsaacDavid1958 (talk) 16:04, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Should I trust you?[edit]

You have many Greek words that resemble each other like anthropology, phychology,Biology,Phylology and etc. which are all Greek. So, methodology (In Greek Μεθοδολογία) is a Greek word like the others Mikemp13219463 (talk) 09:04, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
