As an English interjection[edit]

Why would this mean OK? --Pious Eterino (talk) 19:33, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I believe there is a character in South Park that says it. SemperBlotto (talk) 11:18, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
How is it pronounced?  --Lambiam 13:41, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The character is apparently Mr. Mackey. In the episode “Bass to Mouth” he forges a suicide note, supposed to have been written by Eric Cartman but giving himself away by writing “MKAY” no less than three times.[1] As the note is in allcaps, it is not clear how this would come out in normal case, but in any case (NPI) as something composed of four letters. The website southpark.fandom.com, which hosts scripts of the episodes, spells it in letter case, “mkay”.[2] We do have an entry m'kay that lists six alternative forms, not including mk.  --Lambiam 14:11, 14 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
