@Mahagaja, could you add some citation for the etymology? Dinneen’s dictionary gives it as a form of más ea(dh): “má ’seadh, if so, if it be, nevertheless, well (introductory); al. máiseadh, maiseadh, maise, muise (which See)” and under muise indeed gives “al. maise; genly. mhuise in M.
